Google Drive updated a New Features to its Android and iOS
Google Drive has been updated to make it easier to use in a few big ways, and these are changes that have been needed for quite a while. Thankfully, they’re rolling out to everyone now, including to the mobile apps for Android and iOS.
First up, Google is introducing sharing notifications; you’ll now be notified on iOS and Android when someone has shared a file or folder with you.
It’s a small but welcome update that should make it a lot easier to let people know when you’ve shared a file. Many users don’t keep email notifications on, and if they do, there’s a chance the file will get buried under other message.
Notifications for shared files and folders are getting better in a few ways, getting access to files is easier, and you can preview files in Drive even if you haven't logged in. It's not all live right away, but you can install the updated app right now.
Two of the tweaks to Google Drive have to do with shared file notifications. Starting today, you'll get notifications when a file or folder is shared with you. The notification offers one-tap access to the file as well. If you're on the other side, you will get a notification when someone requests access to a file link you sent to them. As part of this, you can request and grant access to files via the app rather than the web.
