17 MAY 2017: Moto G(4th gen) Might comes to India

Motorola is expected to launch the next-gen Moto G handset in India on May 17. The company has started sending out media invites for the event scheduled for the same. While the invite doesn't clearly mention as to what the company has up its sleeves for the event, we expect it to be the 4th generation Moto G.

There are basically two reasons for us to presume that the Moto G (4th generation) is the product Motorola will be unveiling on May 17.

First, the date on the invite is in line with what Motorola India head Amit Boni had told us about the company's Moto G plans during the Moto X Force event in February this year. While Boni had not given us an exact date for the Moto G India launch, he had mentioned that it would be sometime in May-June.

When asked him about the features the new phone could come with, he said, "It could have a fingerprint sensor."

Second, it's been close to a year since the last-gen Moto G came out, and therefore, it adds more weight to our assumption.

It seems that quite like the Moto G (3rd generation) launch last year, the Moto G (4th generation) will make a global debut in India - before it is announced in other countries.

Speculations are rife that the company would launch the next-gen Moto G in two variants - a standard version and a Plus version. If rumours are to be believed, the Plus version will be the one to include a fingerprint sensor.

Renowned tipster Evan Blass last week tweeted a render of an alleged Moto G4 Plus.
