Moto Z & LG G5 : Genesis of Modular Smartphones

Motorola entered the Lenovo Tech world 2016 to unleash the brand new Moto Z. Actually, Moto Z is just another super smartphone that replaces the Moto X and launched as the flagship moto device. So far we have seen a lot of smartphones being launched in this year and now Moto Z. So Will this Moto Z can compete with other devices. Let us compare it with the LG’s own modular phone LG G5.



The Moto Z gets fatter when the Moto Mods are attached, however. Motorola's new LG G5-style accessory system arrives in the form of magnetic 'backpack' attachments that connect to the 16 pogo pins on the back of the smartphone.

Moto Z offers 5.5-inch screen with 2560 x 1440-pixel resolution with a metal body design using aluminium and stainless steel which has a dimension of 153.3 x 75.3 x 5.19 mm which weighs around 136 grams. This has a super slim look.

Moto Z is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset with 4GB RAM. The internal memory of Moto Z 32/64 GB and is expandable up to 256GB.

The device comes with a fingerprint sensor on the front (nothing new since all the devices even in the low range have started to add this feature). A rear camera of 13-megapixel from the Moto maker, for plenty of design options. A front camera of 5-megapixel.

One notable thing is that it doesn’t have a 3.5mm headphone socket, instead it uses USB Type-C instead with an adapter in the box.

It has Moto Z projector module that snaps the phone content of upto 70 inches and are officially called as Moto Insta-Share Projector.

It has a Non- removable battery capacity of 2600 mAh which is quite small comparably.

It is available in Black/Gray, Black/Rose Gold, Black/Gold, White colours.

LG G5 Specifications

Coming to LG G5, this offers 5.3 inches at 554 ppi [1440 x 2560 pixels] and has a painted metal body which has a dimension of 149.4 x 73.9 x 7.7 mm and weighs around 159 grams, which is slightly fatter and heavier than Moto Z.


LG G5 also has Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip with 4 GB RAM and 32 GB Internal storage with expandable upto 256 GB microSD card support. It uses USB Type-Cfor charging and accessories.
This device has fingerprint sensor at the back with removable battery. LG G5 has 16-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front camera with 135-degree wide angle sensor (this gives an edge over other smartphones).

The battery capacity is slightly higher than Moto Z of 2800 mAh.



LG G5 is available in Silver, Titan, Gold and Pink colours.

Verdict
Moto Z is a real challenger with a name of being the world’s thinnest smartphone. This has same basic features as the LG G5 like the internal specifications of processor, GPU, USB Type-C connectivity etc. The powerful speaker, mini projector takes the advantage over other phones.



Compared with LG G5, overall design of Moto Z is more practical and that gives it more advantage over G5 in terms of usability.
