Motorola hints at Android 'O' upgrade for Moto G4 Plus
Motorola has inadvertently disclosed that one of its newly released flagship smartphones will support an upgrade option to both Android N and Android O. The information has been leaked through a Chinese website Anzhuo .
It is anybody's guess that Google's next mobile operating system would be named after a dessert as has been the case since Android 1.5 Cupcake was released. Google has so far released 11 consecutive builds (including Android N Developer Preview) that have followed the same naming convention in the alphabetical order.
Google is yet to officially announce the dessert name for Android N while most rumours are hinting at "Nutella" as the likely moniker for the next Android iteration. Although the Android maker has remained mum about the recent rumours on the existence of Android O, a handset manufacturer has made an unusual proclamation about the future mobile operating system.
In its recent promotion, Motorola has revealed that the Moto G4 Plus will run Android Marshmallow out-of-the-box and support upgrade options to both Android N as well as Android O. The handset maker could be trudging along a dangerous territory as Google has not mentioned or hinted about what might follow the release of Android N.
As Phone Arena reports, Motorola has a bitter history of skipping updates on not so older smartphones and failing on its promises. Nevertheless, you could already start debating the various dessert names for the fictitious Android 'O' iteration.
