iPhone 7 vs iPhone 6s: Rumored Key Differences Of Specs and Features
We compare the upcoming iPhone 7 against its predecessor, the iPhone 6s
The iPhone 7 is just a few weeks from launch and there are a number of reports which claim to showcase the features and improvements that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is bringing with the new device. However, most users will be disappointed as reports indicate the new device will be very similar to its predecessor, the iPhone 6s. Today, we compare the iPhone 7 with the iPhone 6s to see what will be offered with the new device.
Specs
The new iPhone 7 will come with upgraded internals and users can expect a new A10 processor as well as a M10 motion coprocessor. The new processor is expected to bring a 20% performance boost over the A9 processor found on the iPhone 6s. There are also rumors that the new device will feature 3GB of RAM instead of the 2GB RAM found on the iPhone 6s. The iPhone 7 will also have 32GB as the base model instead of 16GB and the most expensive variant will now feature 256GB of storage.
Design
Users that are hoping to see a redesign in the iPhone 7 will be left disappointed as the new device will look almost exactly the same to the iPhone 6s. The only difference on the design will be a larger camera module and redesigned antenna lines on the back.
Ports
The biggest change on the iPhone 7 could be the removal of the headphone jack. Users will have to use the lightning port for their headphones and charging or use Bluetooth earphones. There are also rumors that the new iPhone 7 will sport the Smart Connector that was first introduced with the iPad Pro.
Data Chipset
The iPhone 6s makes use of a LTE chipset from Qualcomm, and the iPhone 7 is expected to ditch Qualcomm in favor of Intel’s new LTE chipsets. The new chipset could help bring component costs down for Apple and this could mean that the iPhone 7 could be $100 cheaper as reported before.
Camera
The iPhone 6s saw a major bump in its camera module as it housed a new 12MP rear shooter, The iPhone 7 is expected to feature the same camera, though it will now feature OIS which was only found on the iPhone 6s Plus before. The front of the device is also expected to retain the same 5MP FaceTime camera.
