Constable Whose Patriotic Poem On Kashmir Went Viral Gets Death Threats from Pakistan

Soon after the Uri attacks when anti-Pakistan sentiment was at all time high, a patriotic poem by Manoj Thakur, a head constable from Himachal Pradesh, went viral on the social media, for which he received praise from all quarters. Now, Thakur has posted on Facebook that he has received a death threat from the ‘enemy.’ He also said that he doesn’t fear and will take them head on if he comes face to face with them. He also shared screenshots of the messages he received.

As per the post, a Facebook user called Farman Khan threatened him and said that if given an opportunity he would kill Kumar with his own hands. In another message, a man named Bilal Ahmad abused Kumar while criticising him for his poem.

Thakur is presently posted in Kinnaur and the video which went viral after the Uri attack, was uploaded on Kargil Day (July 26). He was singing the song in a van carrying other policemen. In the video, Thakur said that if there is a war, Kashmir would remain but Pakistan would not. He also reminded them of the defeat of Pakistan in the hands of Indian army in 1965, 1971 and 1999.

He sang, ‘Siyar bhediye se dar sakti singhon ki aulad nahi, bharat vansh k is paani ki hai tumko pehchan nahi‘, which means ‘the children of lions will not be afraid of the wolves, you do not know the waters that flow through our country.’ His Facebook post has gone viral on social media and people are supporting him with ‘we are with you’ messages on his Timeline.
