Meizu X Handset To Launch On November 30th
Meizu had introduced the Meizu M5 quite recently, a small budget smartphone which is made out of polycarbonate. Not long before that, this China-based smartphone manufacturer has released the Meizu PRO 6s, the most powerful smartphone to date, and earlier this year, we’ve seen quite a few of other budget friendly devices announced by the company, devices like the Meizu M3, Meizu M3 Note and Meizu U10, for example. Having that in mind, the company had announced an event for November 30th yesterday, and we initially thought they will announce the Meizu M5 Note which has been leaking lately, but that might not be the case.
According to a new rumor / leak, Meizu could announce the Meizu X, a device they have teased at the end of last month. Yesterday’s teaser came with the ‘Make Helio Great Again’ caption, and we initially thought that Meizu was talking about the Helio P10 which is expected to fuel the Meizu M5 Note, but it is possible they were referring to the newer Helio P20 SoC which will, allegedly, fuel the Meizu X handset. Some rumors suggested that the Helio X30 will be included in this package, but that will be MediaTek’s flagship SoC for next year, and it is still not available, so such rumors don’t make much sense. In any case, the Helio P20 is an upper-mid-range processor, it’s a really powerful chip, and when combined with solid specs, it can be more than a solid performer.
Now, if you take a look at the gallery down below, you’ll get to see two new Meizu X leaked images which seemingly show off the phone’s retail packaging. This retail box is nothing to write home about, but it confirms the ‘X’ branding for the company’s upcoming device. We’re still not sure whether Meizu will introduce the Meizu M5 Note or the Meizu X, but we know far more about the former than the latter, that’s for sure. The Meizu M5 Note is expected to come with a 5.5-inch fullHD display, 3GB of RAM, Helio P10 SoC and a number of color variants, while we don’t have any spec info when it comes to the Meizu X, at least not yet.
Previous reports suggested the all-metal Meizu X will be powered by a new Helio X30 chip, which is manufactured by the premium 10nm process. The Helio X30 would bring a new deca-core tri-cluster processor with 4x Cortex-A73 at 2.8GHz, 4x Cortex-A53 at 2.2GHz, and 2x Cortex-A53 at 2.0GHz. The GPU in charge of graphics should be the PowerVR 7XT quad-core GPU, the same one used in the iPhone 7 series.
