Indus OS, the operating system for India, wins Brand of the Year Award
Indus OS, World’s First Regional Operating System, closed the year on a high note as it was lauded with the ‘Brand of the Year – Emerging No. 1’ Award in the Technology category by the World Consulting and Research Corporation (WCRC) in Mumbai on 21st December. The World Consulting and Research Corporation (WCRC) is India's leading Brand Ratings and Listing consulting, research and knowledge firm, and it awards leaders who play a significant role in the growth of India. It recognizes leaders from fields ranging across entertainment and sports to technology, business, social work, arts and literature.
A specialized research company, ibrands360 conducted a consumer perception survey on “The Emerging Brands of India’s”. The survey was initiated by generating a list of 1000 brands from 15 categories, comprising more than 50 sub-categories which were shortlisted to 300 after a rigorous elimination process which was followed by jury scoring to decide the top 50 brands for the Emerging Brands of the Year. The winners were evaluated on factors like results, ethics, and the work culture of the organization.
Indus OS – the world’s first regional operating system was officially launched in 2015 by three IIT’ians with a view to tackle the emerging market’s biggest challenge - to develop technology to cater to the economic, social and regional diversity. In their mission, Indus OS is using a smartphone to connect the digital world with the masses. The operating system supports 12 languages, and offers multiple patented features to enrich the experience for an emerging market user. Indus OS is currently the #2 OS in India with a 7.6% market share, ahead of global giants like Apple (iOS), Microsoft (Windows), Cyanogen and a staggering 6 million Indians have adopted it in under 18 months.
