Hotstar Originals’ proudly brings On Air with AIB Season 2
Mumbai, India, March 6, 2017: After an absolutely unexpected
inaugural season, India’s most loved comedians, AIB, bring back their eponymous
news comedy show, On Air with AIB, in its second innings, on Hotstar, India’s leading video-on-demand platform.
The new season went on air on March 6th, 2017, and will be aired
thrice a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, exclusively on Hotstar.
Last year, Hotstar
announced the show, with some trepidation, and a disclaimer saying ‘junta hume
maaf kare’, apologizing in advance for the madness that was about to be
inflicted on them. But the junta is unpredictable, and went right where no sane
man or woman should have gone. They watched the show in droves, making it a
massive hit, despite fair warning.
A visibly surprised
Hotstar said, “We don’t get it either, but these guys have managed to keep us
and the audiences in splits, so we’re bringing back the four funny guys at AIB
to give our viewers the news, in their signature twisted, sardonic style. And
this time, don’t just take our word for it – watch the show and find out for yourselves!”
And now that the bar has
been accidentally set rather high, AIB is all set to up the game,
with a meatier, wittier,
no-holds barred comedy experience. After all, AIB hai to lega hi! And needless to say, Hotstar is backing their
tongue-in-cheek humor all the way!
Rohan Joshi of AIB, smug
as ever, said, “Of course, this had to happen! It is hardly a surprise that AIB
Season 1 has been met with such resounding success, and because we’re cool like
that, we just had to come back with Season 2. No better place to do this, than
with Hotstar!”
Fighting to be heard,
Tanmay Bhat, also of AIB fame, said, “When we first woke up to this idea, we
had no plans to make it so good. But hey, shit happens!”
On Air with AIB Season 2 will see Tanmay Bhat, Gursimran
Khamba, Rohan Joshi and Ashish Shakya, presenting current affairs and relevant
news with the signature wit and humor that AIB has come to represent. Season 2
will be distinct from its predecessor in tone, appearance and format, less news
broadcast-y, and more stand-up. There will be three episodes released
exclusively on Hotstar – every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The Monday episode,
will feature AIB’s take on the important (and not-so-important) stories of the
week, along with a deep-dive into a particular social theme, heavy on research
and suitably nuanced. Wednesdays will feature an opinionated rant, aptly titled
‘Can you not’, which will be hosted by two AIB members. Lastly, the Friday
episodes titled, ‘On-Air, Off Script’, will feature AIB hosts and special
guests, in an informal setting, dissecting and deliberating on important events
of the week.
