Mobile Tariff battle :Users Taking Advantage
Reliance Jio goes paid from April 1st. This news has put a worrying sign for all the free users availing FREE data and free outgoing calls.But this begins a battle in telecom industry for the all upcoming plans and offers. From last September, Reliance launched "Jio prime subscription plan" under which users can continue using unlimited internet services for Rs 303, which is very reasonable.
When comaring with other operators, Airtel and vodafone also started giving offers and plans to its existing selected customers but it is only a gimmick.Airtel, Idea and Vodafone segmented plans are available only till 15th march so if the customer gets the offer and stays on Airtel Vodafone and Idea can withdraw the offer post 1st April. This is done to retain high ARPU customers(which are doing higher recharges / postpaid customers) .Low ARPU customers are not getting any offers and they dont mind them leaving. So the plan is to save revenue not to help customers.
While Jio Prime Offer and all of its plans are open to all, all of the other plans ARE AVAILABLE TO SELECT MEMBERS ONLY from other operators !!!! While Jio Prime enrollment starts from 1st-31st of March, the time limit to get on the AVOID plans is 15TH MARCH ONLY! This is just to tighten the noose around those select high ARPU customers and create a false sense of urgency among their users.
Offer is created just to counter Jio when the offer is limited ONLY TO 4G HANDSETS AND 4G NETWORK USERS!!!While Jio gives you 1Gb/day straight, incumbents have twisted it like day-night segmentation of data. Vodafone and Idea are offering identical plans with A FEE OF RS.4000/GB AFTER A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF DATA IS CONSUMED!!
