OnePlus Showcased the Android Q Beta Platform at Annual Google I/O Developer Conference

OnePlus, a global mobile device company, announced today the availability of Android Q Beta on its OnePlus 6/6T smartphones at the annual Google I/O meeting. This announcement marks another successful year for OnePlus to collaborate with Google to deliver one of the fastest software updates in the industry and provide one of the most developer-friendly phones.

Android Q Beta, which refers to the developer preview version of this brand-new Android platform, offers developers the ability to share early feedback, while enabling them to create and optimize apps for the platform. This build serves as a baseline version and is targeted at early adopters and developers.

"We’re excited to be one of the fastest software updates in the industry," said Pete Lau, Founder and CEO, OnePlus. “Android Q Beta allows some of our tech-savvy followers to experience the latest technologies that this platform can offer. Updates including the new gesture-based navigation, Dark Theme and privacy enhancements all contribute to the burden-less experience that OnePlus strives to bring to its users.”

As an annual festival for Google experts to present their latest products and technologies, Google I/O conference has been a great forum for developers, carriers and mobile device manufacturers to come together for talks and hands-on experience.
Since the launch of the OnePlus One back in 2014, OnePlus has been receiving support from the developer community. From OnePlus One’s Cyanogen OS to Oxygen OS, refined version of stock Android that retains a pure but fine-tuned experience, the company's operating system keeps evolving alongside the relationship between people and smartphones and discussions with members of the global OnePlus community.

Last year, OnePlus released a software maintenance schedule to provide the company’s community with the best in class software maintenance and upgrade cycle including 2 years of regular software updates from the release date of the phone and an additional year of Android security patch updates every 2 months. Therefore, the Android Q beta platform is currently available for download for OnePlus 6 and 6T users and will be available for OnePlus 7 Pro on May 14th. Android Beta for OnePlus 7 will be available for download in the coming weeks. The official Android Q platform will be available for download later this year.
