One feature the Pure Hot+Cool brings versus its predecessor (the Hot+Cool Link) in terms of design is that a small LCD screen sits on the front.
Using the remote control, which attaches to the top with a magnet like other models, you can flick through a variety of different displays on the screen. It can tell you basic things like the current and target temperature, various details about the air quality.
A POLAR test lab is based on a larger room size of 27m2 (290 sq ft), with no added fan. The air purifier is placed in corner of the room which replicates how it is used in our homes and pollution injected into the room from the other corner. The test uses eight sensors in the corners of the room and one sensor in the centre, detecting particles of indoor air pollution that are 300 times narrower than a human hair. This is to test the performance of the purifier in the farthest corners of the room, and not just in the immediate vicinity of the air purifier. I think Dyson is putting their products to next level testing with Polar test.

If you’re used to a basic fan or heater with perhaps three different settings, the Pure Hot+Cool is a bit like driving a futuristic spaceship like product. There are 10 fan speeds and you can set the temperature between 1 and 30 Celsius atleast which is one present here in Indian market.
There’s plenty more adjustment too, with a tilt function and up to 350 degrees of oscillation. If you just want it to purify the air without blasting you, there’s a diffuse mode which essentially means air is kicked out the back instead.
Cooling is almost as impressive and while it might not blow you as strongly as some fans, that can easily be a bit much. The Dyson cools more gently, and the amount of control with fan speed combined with oscillation is unrivalled.
The device is very quiet in everything it does, even at a high fan speed so if you’re often annoyed by a loud fan then this will be blissful. From a safety point of view, a bladeless fan is better if you have pets or children, so the Dyson ticks those boxes too.

CADR is affected by room area and height. The CADR should ideally be two-thirds of the room size. So, for a room measuring 300-350 sq.ft., a CADR of 200-250 cubic metres an hour (m3/h) is preferable.

Dyson says that it captures 99.95% of ultra-fine particles such as allergens and pollutants. We can’t verify that but it sounds good and one of the displays will let you know how they are doing in terms of lifespan.
Like the Pure Hot+Cool Link, you can hook your phone or tablet up to the device. This added smart element is great, giving you another way to control the device. Of course, it’s more faff than the remote control for quick changes but you can do things like set the heater going so a room is nice and warm when you get home.

Once you have the filters in, you can get started. But it’s worth taking the time to set up the Dyson Link app and connect the fan to your home wifi. That allows you to monitor your air quality over the day even when you aren’t at home, and keep an eye on trends over the weeks.
You can get real-time information from the small display on the front of your machine, with a graph that veers between green and red as it picks up indoor pollutants and filters them out, but if you aren’t there to see it it is hard to keep track of what is going on.

The Pure Hot + Cool will filter all that out, trapping it in the HEPA and carbon filters in its base. Over time, they’ll need to be replaced, but the Dyson app will also give a heads up when that’s needed.
